ALAP UPDATE
Thank you all for making ALAP U 2010 another in a series of great “University” events!!! I’d like to take a moment to thank the many people who made ALAP U both possible and successful.

We thank you all, but in particular the PTA Officers and Board would like to thank:

• The presenters—We have had so many great presenters over the years and this year was no exception. All the kids and parents we spoke with unanimously praised the presenters, variety of classes, and the hands-on curriculum.
• The janitorial staff and Pilgrim HS administration—Every year Pilgrim HS willingly allows us to use their facilities and gives of their time. Thank you so much for making ALAP U possible.
• Our benefactors—In a year plagued with financial uncertainty, we had a “banner” fund-raising year! We can’t thank you enough for your support. We are humbled.
• The teachers and Dr. Siesel—We are extremely fortunate to have you working with our kids, week after week, and going out of your way, year after year, to make events like ALAP U 2010 a reality.
• School Committee, City administration, and Superintendant Horoschak—Your support makes ALAP possible. Simply put the education of our children would be lacking without you. Programs like ALAP help make Warwick a strong community; and you keep ALAP going!
• Parent Volunteers—PTAs are volunteer organizations by nature. Every year we are impressed with the willingness of parents to help make ALAP U work. Your participation is critical to running the “University.”
• The Kids!—Sometimes we take it for granted, but we remain tremendously blessed to have actively inquisitive and respectful kids. Each year, people from outside ALAP comment on how well behaved and surprisingly bright our children are. Clearly ALAP U would not be possible without great students!

A couple reminders for ALAP parents….

We need your help:
• The current PTA Officers are at the end of their terms. Ted Larson (Wyman), the ALAP PTA VP, will likely continue to serve, but the other members are unable to serve a new two-year term and are stepping down.
• We need a new group of officers! (The current officers and board are all willing to help, but, again, cannot serve another term.) If you are available, please consider running for PTA office. Elections are in May. Feel free to speak with any of the current officers and board members about their role.

Spring event:
We are planning a spring event. The current idea is to include flight, performance, and writing. We’d like your participation and ideas. Talk to us about ideas you might have or if you’d like to volunteer.
