Dear Parents:
Do you know what your child learned in school today? Or what special activities he or she is involved in?  Talking to your child about school is an important part of his or her learning.
Make time for your child to share with you a little bit about each school day.

Here are a few tips to help you communicate with your child.

• Ask your child
o To tell you the best thing that happened at school today
o To explain something he or she learned
o How things are going with specific subjects, friends or issues he or she has talked about in the past
o About upcoming events in the classroom

• Look over your child’s homework each night

• Look over papers your child brings home each night, giving praise for progress and achievement

• Give praise when your child shares experiences, thoughts, and feelings about school with you.

I hope these tips will be helpful as we move into the third quarter!

Sincerely,

Judith Daniel
